To provide mechanical and technical diagnostic work in the repair and maintenance of LCPS vehicles and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Diagnoses problems and performs preventative maintenance and major repairs to cars, trucks and buses.
- Repairs problems relating to fuel injection, gas and diesel engines, computerized engine controls, manual and automatic transmissions, clutches, suspension, steering, brakes (hydraulic and air), truck hydraulics, and attachments.
- Diagnosis and makes repairs to equipment.
- Performs Virginia State Inspections.
- Replaces worn and broken parts.
- Replaces fluids.
- Enters maintenance data information into computerized system.
- Performs maintenance and repairs to shop equipment.
- Performs general shop maintenance.
- Cleans shop.
- Assists in identification and ordering of needed parts.
- Picks up and delivers vehicles for outside repair.
- Responds to after-hours calls.
- Repairs small engines (lawnmowers, weed eaters, chain saws, gas generators, etc.).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- ASE or Factory Diesel Mechanic certification.
- Hold or be immediately eligible for a Virginia State Inspectors license.
- Hold or be willing to get a CDL license with school bus endorsement.
- Have demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with school personnel.
